DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug treatment facilities are either there by their own choice, but generally in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of staying out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their substance abuse if they drive while under the influence down the road. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
