DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders might be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their substance abuse. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse should they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
