DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehab facilities are generally there on their own accord, but generally in drug rehab as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be required to go to treatment either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of staying out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use.
