Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any sort of drug and alcohol rehab facility due to a drug or alcohol related crime. This will happen for example if someone else is convicted of drunk driving or DWI, and for any other kind of drug related criminal offense which has led the court to believe that the individual has any sort of substance abuse issue. Not every person has the option of taking part in an alcohol and drug rehab program as a criminal justice client, however, if this approach is ordered by the court it is wise that the individual do everything they are able to to get the most from this opportunity. Oftentimes, other penalties and consequences can be entirely eradicated or lessened if the individual succeeds in rehab and completes the drug and alcohol treatment facility that is ordered for them. First time offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients who do take part in rehabilitation in lieu of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to prison time or similar consequences. Eventually, it saves the court system both time and money when criminal justice clients obtain effective treatment.
