Criminal justice clients are those who are in any type of drug treatment facility due to a drug or alcohol related criminal offense. This will occur for example when someone is convicted of drunk driving or DWI, and for any other type of drug related crime which has led the judge to believe that the individual has any type of substance abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility as a criminal justice client, but when this option is ordered by the court it is well advised that the individual try everything they can to take full advantage of this opportunity. Oftentimes, other penalties and consequences can be totally eradicated or lessened if the individual does well in rehabilitation and completes the drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility which was ordered for them. First-time offenders are the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients that do experience rehabilitation in lieu of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than people who find themselves ordered to jail time or similar consequences. In the long run, it saves the court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients receive effective treatment.
