Criminal justice clients are those who are in any sort of drug and alcohol treatment center as a result of a drug or alcohol related offense. This can occur for example if someone else is convicted of driving under the influence or DWI, or for any other type of drug related criminal offense which has led a legal court to think that the individual has any kind of drug abuse issue. Not everybody has the option of getting involved in an alcohol and drug rehab center as a criminal justice client, but when this approach is ordered through the court it's strongly advised that the individual try everything they're able to to make the most of this opportunity. Most of the time, other penalties and consequences can be entirely eliminated or lessened in the event the individual succeeds in treatment and finishes the drug rehab center that has been ordered for them. First time offenders are the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients that take part in treatment in place of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to jail time or similar consequences. In the long run, it saves the court system both time and money when criminal justice clients receive effective rehab.
