DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehab centers are either there by their own choice, but usually in drug and alcohol rehabilitation as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that people who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
