DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities are either there by their own choice, but usually in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of remaining out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while under the influence later on. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
