DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol treatment programs are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug treatment as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders might be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their substance abuse should they drive while intoxicated in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
