Criminal justice clients are people who are in any sort of alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility as a result of alcohol or drug related criminal offense. This can occur for instance if someone else is found guilty of driving under the influence or DWI, or any other kind of drug related criminal offense which has led the court to believe that the individual has any sort of drug abuse issue. Not every person has the option of getting involved in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center as a criminal justice client, but if this approach is ordered from the court it is wise that the individual do everything they can to benefit from this chance. In many cases, other penalties and consequences may be completely eliminated or lessened in the event the individual succeeds in rehab and finishes the drug and alcohol treatment center that has been ordered for them. First time offenders are the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients that take part in rehabilitation in place of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than people who find themselves ordered to incarceration or similar consequences. Ultimately, it saves a legal court system both time and money when criminal justice clients receive effective treatment.
