DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol treatment facilities are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the court system than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
