DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug rehab programs are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders might be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of remaining out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse if they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
