DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug abuse if they drive while intoxicated down the road. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
