DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug treatment programs are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehab as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders might be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug abuse should they drive while drunk or high in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
