DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug rehab centers are generally there on their own accord, but generally in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that people who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of staying out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug abuse should they drive while drunk or high down the road. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
