DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug treatment centers are either there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders may be ordered to rehab either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug abuse when they drive while drunk or high in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
