DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug treatment programs are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be required to go to treatment either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of staying out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while intoxicated in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
