DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in alcohol and drug treatment facilities are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders may be ordered to treatment either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that people who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of staying out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while intoxicated down the road. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
