DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be ordered to rehab either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of staying out of the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while under the influence in the future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
