DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehab centers are generally there by their own choice, but usually in drug treatment as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of remaining out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This may certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their substance abuse when they drive while intoxicated in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
