Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any type of drug and alcohol treatment center because of a drug or alcohol related offense. This can occur for example if someone is convicted of drunk driving or DWI, and for any other type of drug related criminal offense which has led the court to believe the individual has any sort of drug abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in a drug rehab facility as a criminal justice client, but when this option is ordered from the court it's strongly advised that the individual try everything they're able to to make the most of this chance. Most of the time, other penalties and consequences could be completely eradicated or lessened if the individual does well in treatment and finishes the alcohol and drug rehab program which has been ordered for them. First time offenders will be the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients that take part in treatment in place of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to prison time or similar consequences. Ultimately, it saves the court system both money and time when criminal justice clients receive effective rehab.
