DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities are either there by their own choice, but usually in drug treatment as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that those who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of remaining out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug abuse when they drive while drunk or high in the future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
