DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol treatment facilities are either there by their own choice, but generally in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of remaining out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated in the foreseeable future.
