DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that people who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out from the court system than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while intoxicated later on. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
