DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug and alcohol treatment facilities are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug rehab as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders might be required to go to rehab either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of remaining out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while under the influence in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
