DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities are generally there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug rehabilitation as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that people who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug abuse should they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
