Criminal justice clients are people who are in any sort of drug and alcohol rehabilitation program as a result of alcohol or drug related crime. This will happen for instance if a person is found guilty of a DUI or DWI, or any other kind of drug related crime that has led the court to believe the individual has any sort of drug or alcohol use issue. Not everyone has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol treatment facility as a criminal justice client, however, if this approach is ordered from the court it is strongly advised that the individual try everything they are able to to take full advantage of this opportunity. In many cases, other penalties and consequences could be totally eradicated or lessened if the individual does well in rehab and finishes the alcohol and drug treatment center that is ordered for them. First time offenders are the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients that do take part in rehab in place of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to incarceration or similar consequences. Ultimately, it saves a legal court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients receive effective rehab.
