DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug treatment centers are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug and alcohol rehab as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug abuse should they drive while under the influence down the road. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
