DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug rehab facilities are generally there on their own accord, but usually in drug and alcohol rehab as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of staying out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug abuse should they drive while intoxicated down the road. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
