DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug and alcohol rehab facilities are generally there on their own accord, but usually in drug and alcohol rehab as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders might be ordered to treatment either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of remaining out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while intoxicated in the foreseeable future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
