DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug rehab centers are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehabilitation as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug abuse should they drive while under the influence down the road. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
