DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs are either there by their own choice, but usually in drug treatment as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be ordered to treatment either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of staying out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their substance abuse when they drive while under the influence later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
