DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could possibly be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This may certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while under the influence down the road. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
