DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug rehab programs are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to rehab either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This may certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while under the influence in the future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
