DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol rehab centers are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug treatment due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while intoxicated later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
