Criminal justice clients are those who are in any kind of alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility as a result of a drug or alcohol related offense. This will occur for example if a person is found guilty of a DUI or DWI, or any other kind of drug related criminal offense which has led a legal court to think that the individual has any kind of substance abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol rehab center as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered from the court it is well advised that the individual do everything they can to benefit from this chance. In many cases, other penalties and consequences can be totally eradicated or lessened in the event the individual succeeds in treatment and finishes the drug and alcohol treatment center which has been ordered for them. First-time offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients who experience treatment in place of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to incarceration or receive other penalties.
