DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol treatment centers are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This may certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while under the influence down the road. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
