DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in alcohol and drug rehab centers are either there on their own accord, but generally in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that those who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of remaining out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while drunk or high in the future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
