DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers are either there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders might be required to go to rehab either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which set off their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while drunk or high later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
