DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug treatment programs are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug rehab due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of staying out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their substance abuse if they drive while intoxicated in the foreseeable future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
