Outpatient treatment gives rehabilitation clients the opportunity to sustain certain responsibilities and aspects of their lifestyle while getting involved in alcohol and drug treatment services. Outpatient treatment is a moderate level of treatment, and should not be mistaken for the level of rehab provided in an inpatient or residential rehab program which is significantly more extensive. Outpatient treatment may be ideal for anyone who has a short history of substance abuse for example, but will almost certainly not be sufficient for a person whose rehab needs go beyond what outpatient treatment is able to provide. Individuals involved in drug abuse often require a considerable environmental change, because most of the things which prompt their drug and alcohol use are purely environmental. As an example, if someone else has been physically or psychologically mistreated and this is prompting their drug or alcohol use, there is no way for any rehab endeavours to have success if they go back to such situations on a regular basis. In outpatient treatment, individuals can engage in group and one-on-one therapy, along with family therapy services. In outpatient treatment, most facilities will provide services 6 or 7 days a week on either a part-time or full time basis for thirty days or longer in some cases.
