DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug rehabilitation facilities are generally there on their own accord, but usually in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while intoxicated down the road. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
