DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol rehab centers are either there on their own accord, but generally in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of staying out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while under the influence in the future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
