DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug and alcohol rehab facilities are generally there on their own accord, but generally in drug and alcohol rehab as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be ordered to rehab either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of remaining out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse if they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
