DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug treatment facilities are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could possibly be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of staying out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug abuse. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse should they drive while drunk or high in the future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
