DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This can truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse should they drive while drunk or high in the future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
