Outpatient treatment gives rehab clients the chance to sustain certain responsibilities and elements of their way of life while taking part in alcohol and drug rehab services. Outpatient treatment is a moderate degree of rehabilitation, and shouldn't be mistaken for the amount of treatment provided within an inpatient or residential rehabilitation program which is significantly more intensive. Outpatient treatment may be suited to someone who has a brief history of substance abuse for example, but will certainly not be adequate for somebody whose rehabilitation needs exceed what outpatient treatment is prepared to provide. Individuals involved in drug abuse often need an extreme change of environment, because many of the things that prompt their drug abuse are purely environmental. For example, if someone is being physically or emotionally abused and this is prompting their drug abuse, it's impossible for any rehab endeavours to achieve success should they return to such situations on a daily basis. In outpatient treatment, individuals can take advantage of group and individual therapy, in addition to family therapy services. In outpatient treatment, most facilities will provide services five to seven days per week on either a part time or full-time schedule for 1 month or longer in some instances.
