Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any kind of alcohol and drug rehab program because of a drug or alcohol related offense. This will occur for example when someone is found guilty of driving under the influence or DWI, or any other type of drug related offense that has led a legal court to think that the individual has any type of substance abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol treatment program as a criminal justice client, but if this approach is ordered from the judge it's strongly advised that the individual try everything they can to benefit from this opportunity. In many cases, other penalties and consequences could be completely eliminated or lessened in the event the individual succeeds in treatment and completes the drug rehab program that is ordered for them. First time offenders are the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients who experience treatment instead of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to jail time or receive other penalties. Eventually, it saves the court system both money and time when criminal justice clients obtain powerful treatment.
