Criminal justice clients are those who are in any type of alcohol and drug treatment facility as a result of alcohol or drug related crime. This can occur for example when someone is convicted of drunk driving or DWI, or any other type of drug related crime that has led the court to think that the individual has any kind of drug or alcohol use issue. Not everyone has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center as a criminal justice client, however, if this option is ordered by the court it's well advised that the individual try everything they are able to to benefit from this opportunity. Most of the time, other penalties and consequences could be entirely eradicated or lessened when the individual does well in treatment and finishes the drug and alcohol treatment facility that has been ordered for them. First time offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been verified that criminal justice clients that do take part in rehab in place of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to time in jail or receive other penalties. Eventually, it saves a legal court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients receive effective rehabilitation.
