DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug treatment facilities are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be ordered to rehab either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that people who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which set off their substance abuse. This can truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
